35,000 new car sales from car scrappage scheme
10 June 2009
More than 35,000 new cars have been ordered through the Government`s `car scrappage scheme` in the month since it was started, according to The Telegraph.
Under the scheme, motorists who trade in cars registered more than 10 years ago are eligible for a £2,000 discount on new car purchases.
The discounts granted so far account for more than a tenth of the total £300m made available by the Government.
A spokesperson for Think Cars said: "The scheme may represent a good opportunity for people looking to upgrade their old cars, who might have been cautious about spending money on a brand-new vehicle.
"For anyone looking to a buy a new car on finance, it`s worth speaking with a car loans adviser, who can help them to find the best deal."
