Debt causing `physical` stress
24 November 2009
Research by Experian`s CreditExpert.co.uk suggests that many people are suffering physically as a result of the "increased financial strain" of things like being in too much debt, headlinemoney.co.uk reports.
The findings of the research suggest that millions of Britons are under "enormous financial pressure" - with 6.8 million believing they are carrying more debt than they can manage, and 9.7 million feeling they can just about deal with the level of debt they have, stating they are at the `limit` of what they can cope with.
The areas highlighted as financial stress `hotspots` in the UK are mainly located across Wales, Scotland and the Midlands.
Chartered physiotherapist Sammy Margo said: "We have seen more people suffering from stress related issues during the downturn and concerns around personal finances are frequently mentioned by clients as a source of worry and stress."
A debt expert for Think Money commented: "Being in debt can be a stressful time for anyone, and we would advise borrowers who are suffering as a result of their debts to contact a professional debt adviser without delay."
