Domestic energy provider Scottish Power has become the fifth major energy company to announce price reductions.
The company is set to reduce average electricity prices by 3% and gas by 7.5% as of the end of March.
Scottish Power says annual bills for its `dual fuel` customers paying by direct debit should fall by around £54 on average - to £1,156.
Of the six major energy companies, only NPower has yet to announce any changes to its pricing.
A debt expert for Think Money said: "Consumers have been watching their energy prices much more closely over the past year following price rises on a large number of tariffs, so these reductions will be welcomed.
"However, the price cuts may not make a big difference to people who are already behind on their bill payments due to high prices. Anyone in that situation should seek debt advice as soon as possible."
