Car insurance from Think Insure
Your car probably plays a huge part in your life. Without it, your day-to-day life wouldn't be the same - so it's important you look after your car by insuring it with the right policy, for the right price.
Car insurance may be compulsory, but that doesn't mean it has to be confusing. Here at Think Insure, we make it simple for you to find the right car insurance policy.
Our dedicated agents will search our panel including some leading UK car insurance companies for you, comparing car insurance quotes to find the most competitive deal from our panel - for free and without any obligation.
From car insurance for new drivers to short-term car insurance and even classic car insurance, Think Insure can help you find the right policy for your needs.
Choosing the right type of car insurance
There are three main types of car insurance available to UK drivers. Choosing the right type for you will mean you get the level of protection you want without paying any more than you have to.
Take a look at these descriptions to work out which type of policy might be right for you (or speak to one of our agents and they'll discuss your options with you):
Third party car insurance
Third party car insurance is the minimum level of cover you are legally required to have.
Third party insurance can cover your legal responsibilities in respect of:
- Injury caused to other people involved in an accident (your passengers, for example, and other people not in your vehicle), and
- Damage caused to things that belong to other people (a third party's vehicle or property) but not yours.
If you're wondering why this type of insurance is called 'third party' insurance:
- Party one is the insurance company,
- Party two is the driver (you), and
- Party three is the claimant (the other person/people involved).
Third party, fire and theft car insurance
Third party, fire and theft insurance offers you more protection than third party insurance.
Again, it covers you if other people make a claim against you for damage to their car/property or injury sustained in an accident - but third party, fire and theft can also cover you if your car is stolen or damaged by fire.
Comprehensive car insurance
Comprehensive car insurance (or 'fully comprehensive car insurance') offers you the maximum protection available. Comprehensive car insurance policies can cover you in the event of:
- Accidental damage to your car
- Deliberate damage to your car
- Accidents on the road
- Medical expenses (up to an agreed limit)
- Loss of, or damage to, personal property stored within your car (up to an agreed limit)
- Glass replacement (windows, sunroof and windscreen)
Comprehensive car insurance, like third party, also covers you if other people claim against you for damage to their vehicle/property and/or injury sustained in an accident.
And - like third party, fire and theft - it can protect you if your car is stolen or damaged by fire.
Cheap car insurance quotes
It might be tempting to opt for the cheapest car insurance policy to save money - but the cheapest deal may not always be the best.
You might search through dozens of quotes for cheap car insurance for young drivers, for example, or cheap car insurance for women - but not find the right policy for you.
Finding car insurance quotes to match your budget is certainly important, but you may have to compromise on price to make sure you get the level of cover you want.
That's where our insurance agents can help. They'll search our panel of leading UK car insurance companies to find a wide range of car insurance quotes - so you can choose the one that suits your policy requirements and budget.

Some car insurance FAQs
If you've got any questions about car insurance, you might find the answers right here. If you don't, simply call us and we'll be happy to provide the information you need.
Why do I need car insurance?
Car insurance is a legal requirement. If you drive a car without insurance, you are committing an offence under the Road Traffic Act and may be prosecuted.
It's not just about legal requirements, though: car insurance delivers real benefits. If you're involved in an accident or your car is damaged/stolen, a claim on your insurance could get you the money you need to pay for repairs - or even buy a new car.
What is a car insurance premium?
A car insurance premium is the payment you'll make each month (or each year, if you prefer).
You pay a premium on your car insurance depending on several factors (including your car's engine size, your age and your experience). The premium is based on the risk of insuring you - so your premium may be higher if you don't park your car in a garage overnight, for example, if you've got points on your licence, or if you've not been driving for long.
Why do some car insurance groups get charged more?
Different drivers are categorised into different groups - for example, young drivers and new drivers.
Each car insurance group poses a different level of risk to the insurer - so the higher-risk drivers will often be charged more than those who are seen as a lower risk.
