Over a million early bookers `not planning on travel insurance`
26 January 2010
A large number of people planning breaks early this year will not take out travel insurance, new research claims.
Sainsbury`s Travel Insurance said that around 8.9 million people aged between 16 and 64 are planning to book a holiday before the end of February.
But of these, 1.14 million who do not have travel insurance do not plan on purchasing any, potentially putting them at risk of financial trouble if any problems occur.
An insurance expert at Think Money said: "Travel insurance is not a legal requirement like some types of insurance, but it is well worth taking out when we consider just how costly holiday emergencies can prove to be.
"Holidaymakers should compare the various insurance deals on offer. The cost should be relatively low, and if any problems do arise, those who do take out insurance will be glad they`re covered."
