Pet insurance important for big vet`s bills

Three in five (60% of) dog and cat owners are without pet insurance, despite a significant proportion saying they could not afford a large vet`s bill for their pet, according to a recent survey.
Price comparison website Gocompare.com found that a fifth of dog and cat owners would not be able to afford a vet`s bill of £500 or more.
An insurance expert at Think Money said: "These findings highlight just how important insurance can be. Most people can afford a small monthly payment towards an insurance policy, but paying a large vet`s bill could be a real struggle.
"Rather than simply avoiding insurance, we advise pet owners to search the market for the best insurance deal. It may well be that they can find a cheaper deal than they thought."
