Stay insured for `half-term getaway`
9 February 2010
Moneysupermarket has advised holidaymakers looking to get away this half-term to make sure they have the right travel insurance in place.
The price comparison website says that a family of four travelling to Spain for a week could find insurance for little more than £10 - far less than the potential cost of an emergency.
An insurance expert at Think Money said that while insurance is something that holidaymakers on a limited budget could be tempted to cut back on, the consequences could be severe if anything goes wrong.
"Cutting back on travel insurance could turn out to be a false economy. The cost of getting insured is usually a fraction of what it might cost to cover a medical bill or lost luggage, for example.
"Instead of avoiding insurance completely, holidaymakers would do well to search online for a low-cost deal that meets their needs."
